The Little Market
The above link is a media platform for a
newly formed online fare trade store called “The Little Market". Founders
Lauren Conrad and Hannah Skvarla travel the world to places such as, Mexico,
Bali, and El Salvador in search for female artisans who are living in
impoverished communities. This website/
online store was created in the hopes that women from all over the world could
have the opportunity to sell their one of a kind hand crafted products at fare
trade.

Often women in third world or
underdeveloped countries are taken advantage of; selling their handmade
products at local markets for next to nothing, Conrad and Skvarla are looking to stop this. By
selling products through an international platform, TLM has provided women with the
opportunity to provide a better life for both themselves and their children.
For example, sending them to school.

This is a non- profit organization that
uses any generated additional funds to travel and seek out female entrepreneurs around
the world to showcase and provide fare trade for their work. Allowing women to share their talent and work with people all over the world.
The link above is a short video of both Hannah and Lauren traveling through Guatemala to visit female artisans. The video is both uplifting and inspiring, any one can do anything with the Internet. But to do something that helps hundreds of women and children around the world is amazing.
I to have loved following the story of The Little Market, I find Lauren Conrad has used her fame to really establish herself as a business women, creator and enabler of the women around her. Several years ago i lived in Guatemala, when i returned i found myself missing the local shops and markets, then I stumbled upon The Little Market, i was able to continue supporting the local artisans without having to worry about them being treated unfairly, another great company that runs t support local artisans in Guatemeala is Hiptipico. While i was in Guatemala i was able to go around to the different shops with her and meet the artisans that create products to sell, she doesnt use them but enables them to make a career.
